What It Covers

A pre-purchase inspection is a full mechanical and safety check on a vehicle you're considering buying, done before you commit, not after. We check the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, steering, and look for signs of prior damage or unresolved issues, then give you a written report of what we found.

An out-of-province inspection follows Alberta's required checklist for registering a vehicle brought in from another province, covering the mechanical and safety items the registration process requires.

Signs To Watch For

• Buying a used vehicle without having it independently inspected first
• A seller who's reluctant to allow an inspection before sale
• Bringing a vehicle in from another province without confirming it will pass Alberta's requirements

Why It Matters

A pre-purchase inspection is the cheapest insurance you can buy against a bad used-vehicle purchase. Cosmetic issues are easy to spot yourself; mechanical problems, prior accident damage, and deferred maintenance often aren't, and can cost far more than the inspection itself if they surface after you've already bought the car.
